Liberty University’s 51st Commencement Celebrates Graduates with Inspirational Messages
At Liberty University’s grand 51st commencement ceremony held at Williams Stadium, a crowd of 29,000 graduates from the Class of 2024 gathered to mark the culmination of their academic journey. The event was graced by esteemed speakers, including Senator Tim Scott, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Liberty University President, Dondi E. Costin, and Willie Robertson, CEO of Duck Commander, who left an indelible mark on the graduates with their motivational addresses.
Pompeo honored military heroes
Mike Pompeo shared a message of appreciation for the over 6,000 military-affiliated graduates at Liberty, with over 2,000 on active duty, possibly the most of any institution in the United States. 20% of all military chaplains are Liberty graduates.
“This institution takes pride in our military heroes. I will tell you, our military heroes need places like Liberty. Congratulations, I can not wait to see what the Lord brings to you next.”
Senator Tim Scott given honorary doctorate
Senator Tim Scott, known for his passionate advocacy for faith and public service, took the stage to deliver a powerful commencement address. He urged the graduates to embrace lives filled with boldness and dedication to serving God and their communities. Scott’s speech resonated deeply with the graduating class, encouraging them to embark on their post-graduate endeavors with courage and a sense of purpose. “Liberty and faith are sacred things,” he said. “They are worthy of being defended. Throughout 250 years of American history, our nation has always depended on the willingness of incredible men and women, and their families to sacrifice for it, to fight for it, and even to give their lives for it.”
Scott also was awarded an honorary doctorate degree as an honorary member of the class of 2024.
Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson closed in prayer
Following Senator Scott’s inspiring words, Willie Robertson, a prominent figure in the business world and a parent of one of the graduates, delivered a closing prayer that encapsulated the spirit of the ceremony.
