Gwen Stefani may not be known as much for her faith as her lyrics, dress, and role in popular culture and now television, but inside the star musician is a faith in God that she believes has given her a second chance at life and a second chance at marriage.
“She has such a strong faith in God,” her husband, country music star, Blake Shelton told CMT. “I mean, if Gwen was sitting here right now, she would God (is first), and then everything else. That’s number one in her life and has been her whole life. She doesn’t beat you over the head with it. She would never do that. That’s her relationship. But I’ve learned a lot from Gwen about a lot of things, really just watching her and learning from her and learning how she thinks and how she treats people, and how she just operates in her life.”
Faith is now overflowing in Shelton’s music as well, as he wrote hits including “God’s Country” and others.
“I start seeing the God in everything because she does,” Shelton said. “And of course, that starts bleeding into my records and my music, and next thing you know, I’m dreaming songs, and recording songs and writing songs about faith and God … I do like having it on my records.
According to Today, Stefani turned to faith during her hardest times including a divorce from Gavin Rossdale and today is stronger because of her faith.
“For me, I was turning to my faith right away. That was a seed that my mom planted in me when I was a little girl … it’s a journey. It’s almost like you get lost, it’s like you get lost on your journey. We all do and we all will and I will again at some point I’m sure.”
