A new faith-based epic series brings the legendary rise of Israel’s greatest king to Prime Video
In an era where faith-based entertainment is surging in popularity, Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer and key art for its highly anticipated biblical drama, House of David. Set to premiere on February 27, the series brings the legendary rise of Israel’s most celebrated king to a global audience in over 240 countries and territories.
Produced by the creative minds behind Jesus Revolution and The Chosen, House of David promises a powerful retelling of one of Scripture’s most inspiring figures and one of history’s most famous kings. The series follows the young shepherd David—played by rising star Michael Iskander—as he faces his defining moment against Goliath (Martyn Ford) and embarks on a divinely inspired journey that will lead him to the throne of Israel. Iskander, fresh from his role in the Tony Award-winning musical Kimberly Akimbo, was selected for the role following a four-month international search.
A Faithful Yet Gritty Biblical Epic
Helmed by Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution, American Underdog) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), House of David weaves together a narrative of faith, courage, and divine destiny on one of the most popular streaming platforms in the world – Prime Video. The show also features an all-star cast, including Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan) as the tormented King Saul, Ayelet Zurer (Man of Steel) as Queen Ahinoam, and Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water) as the prophet Samuel, who anoints David as God’s chosen king.
The series explores the downfall of King Saul, whose pride and disobedience to God lead to his unraveling, and the unexpected rise of David, a shepherd boy anointed in secret. As David navigates love, loss, and treacherous palace politics, audiences will witness the tension between the old order and God’s unfolding plan for Israel.
A Project with a Kingdom Vision
The production is a collaboration between Wonder Project, Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate Television, and Kingdom Story Company. Notably, The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins serves as a special advisor to the project, further cementing its potential to resonate with Christian audiences worldwide.
With its compelling storytelling, cinematic battle sequences, and a faith-filled narrative, House of David aims to set a new standard for biblical dramas. As anticipation builds, the series is poised to captivate believers and mainstream audiences alike, offering an unflinching look at how God raises up leaders according to His will.
Mark your calendars—this is one faith-based epic you won’t want to miss.
