In 2019, Jaxon Taylor of Redding, CA, a two-year-old little boy was on the brink of death. Taylor had been diagnosed with E.coli that developed into HUS and was causing kidney failure, leaving him sprawled out on the living room floor in pain. He quickly went from bad to worse and at the point of death in the ER, his parents credit the prayers of many for lifting his soul out of the darkness.
“In about a 12 hour time period it went from he has this little sick thing at home to life and death,” recalled Joel Taylor, Jaxon’s father in a video testimony recorded by Bethel Music.
Janie, Jaxon’s mother was flooded with the sense that she may never know her son and it might be this week that she lost her son. “In the middle of the night, they rushed us up to the NICU and called the neuro-surgeon in. They tested him and there was no response, no pain response, no recognition of me and at that moment I thought, I am losing my son.”
The story quickly spread through social media around the world and thousands of people began praying for Taylor and his family.
Jonathan and Melissa Hesler in Sophia, North Carolina were two of the thousands of people around the country and world who were contending in prayer for their friend’s little boy across the country in Redding, CA. The Hesler’s are part of the Bethel Music Collective where Joel Taylor, served as CEO.
Jonathan relates hearing the news, and being overwhelmed by the prospect of death, and in himself not having the faith to believe for Taylor’s healing.
“I felt like this giant of unbelief stood in front of me,” Jonathan Helser said. “I thought, ‘Jaxon’s going to die tonight, we’re not going to see the miracle.’”
“I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
Yet, in the midst of the unbelief, a melody began to rise up in their hearts as they interceeded for their friends.
“I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody…”
The simple prayer of faith, turned into a catchy melody became the anthem for thousands of people believing for Jaxon’s miracle.
Jaxon’s dad recalls, “I took that song on my phone and played it over my son over and over again…that’s exactly what we were doing, making warfare.”
The song and prayers for Jaxon spread quickly and a miracle happened. Jaxon began to come to, he began speaking, his little body was healed and his strength returned.
Janie recalled, “He started talking again. You could tell it was fragile, it was still coming back but he started talking again, and that was amazing.’
Recalling the power of prayer, Joel said, “It still humbles me and baffles me, the power of global prayer, the power of community, the power of believing together.”
