Dream Center Founder Hospitalized with Stroke
Los Angeles Dream Center founder Matthew Barnett suffered a stroke and a blood clot on his brain today and Christians around the country are joining in prayer for a full and total recovery. The pioneering pastor and visionary of one of the largest recovery programs for addicted men and women in the country and pastor of the historic Angelus Temple (founded by healing evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson), has labored in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years since he was 19 years old.
Barnett shared on Instagram with his 37,000 followers, “I’m in hospital being treated for a stroke. I was getting massage at the Glendale mall. when Checking out, out I was going to say thank to the guy when suddenly I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t speak one coherent word. It was like an alien took over my speech and I couldn’t speak as my words slurred. Within an hour they gave me the strongest medicine you could imagine to kill the clot on my brain. It was beyond unreal. I’m doing better and they are making sure there’s no blood on the brain. Lips are swollen but at least I don’t have to pay thousands for lip injections.”
Thousands of people around the world are praying for his full recovery including baseball legend Darryl Strawberry who responded, “Praying for you @matthewbarnett1″
Musician and revivalist, Sean Feucht shared, “PRAYING FOR YOU BROTHER!!! Healing and wholeness in Jesus name!”
Former Hillsong Worship Leader, Darlene Zschech responded, “Praying for you @matthewbarnett … psalm 91 all the way!”
The LA Dream Center houses nearly 700 people in its extensive recovery program that can last up to 3 years.
