The Los Angeles Mission this week announced an urgent, multifaceted fundraising program designed to provide essential support to members of the entertainment guilds who are bearing the brunt of the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. This critical situation has been further exacerbated as actors and other creatives have joined the walkout, leading to industry-wide production halts.
The fundraising efforts kick off with a press conference, a complimentary breakfast for those in need, and the launch of an exclusive line of merchandise called “Do the Write Thing” on Monday, September 25 in Hollywood.
In these trying times, the Los Angeles Mission firmly believes in standing by its community. For those struggling to make ends meet or put food on the table, the Los Angeles Mission is fundraising to establish a specialized endowment. Any official guild member affected by the strike is eligible for aid from this dedicated fund. Whether it’s assistance with a utility bill, a helping hand with rent, or a package of nutritious food, the Mission’s doors are open.
Pastor Troy Vaughn, CEO and President of the Los Angeles Mission, and Congressman Jimmy Gomez of California’s 34th congressional district kicked off a press conference Monday, just as a tentative agreement was reached, yet many are still struggling. Vaughn shared, “In times of hardship, community is our greatest asset. The WGA strike affects us all—not just as an industry but as a human collective. The Los Angeles Mission is unwavering in its resolve to provide essential aid to those impacted. We invite everyone to ‘do the write thing’ and support this urgent cause.”
Other Christian organizations have raised funds for those in need during the strike including, TD Jakes’ Potter’s House campus in LA named, One.
Christian news commentator, Shawn Bolz believes God is doing a reset in Hollywood, preventing woke, dangerous content from being released during this strike and is shifting things.
To further augment their efforts, an exclusive line of Los Angeles Mission merchandise featuring celebrity-designed t-shirts with the tagline “DO THE WRITE THING” is available to support the efforts. 100% of the proceeds from these sales will go directly to the dedicated fund established to benefit guild members in distress.
