Musk Claims Democrats Were Using Illegal Immigration to Secure a One-Party State
In a February interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and leader of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), laid out a provocative theory about why he believes Democrats are targeting him with intense criticism, protests, and propaganda. According to Musk, the root of their ire lies in his efforts to disrupt what he calls a calculated strategy to secure permanent political power in the United States through illegal immigration.
Musk argued that the Democratic Party has been leveraging what he terms “entitlements fraud”—the provision of social benefits like Social Security, Medicaid, and disability payments to undocumented immigrants—as a “gigantic magnetic force” to attract people from around the globe. “If you pay people at a standard of living above 90% of Earth,” Musk said, “you’ve got a powerful incentive for 90% of Earth to come here and stay here.” He contends that by ending these benefits, the influx would slow, and many undocumented immigrants already in the U.S. would leave voluntarily.
The stakes, Musk claims, are nothing less than the future of American democracy. He alleges that Democrats are not only encouraging illegal immigration but actively working to convert these individuals into voters. Citing New York as an example, Musk pointed out that approximately 600,000 undocumented immigrants are currently registered to vote in state and local elections—a figure he says is part of a broader trend. “They’re buying voters,” he told Rogan. “It’s a giant voter fraud scam.”
Misusing Taxpayer Funds
Musk’s theory extends to the federal level, where he accuses agencies like FEMA—intended to aid Americans affected by natural disasters—of misusing taxpayer funds to house undocumented immigrants in luxury hotels. He referenced a specific case in New York, where another $80 million was allocated for this purpose even after an executive order from former President Donald Trump aimed to halt such spending. “Your tax money went to pay for illegal aliens in luxury hotels,” Musk said, identifying a flagrant misuse of resources.
The endgame, according to Musk, is a permanent shift in the U.S. political landscape. He warned that if Democrats succeed in legalizing enough undocumented immigrants in key swing states—where elections are often decided by margins as slim as 20,000 votes—those states would turn permanently blue. “If they’re not swing states, we’ll be a permanent one-party state country,” Musk predicted, envisioning a “deep blue socialist state” with Democrats controlling the presidency, Congress, and judiciary. He pointed to California as an example of this strategy.
Fork in the Road
Musk framed his support for Trump in the recent election as an intentional bid to avert this outcome. “This was a fork in the road,” he said. “If they had another four years, they would legalize enough illegals in the swing states to make them not swing states.” He warned that additional moves—like granting statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico or packing the Supreme Court—would lock in Democratic dominance for generations.
The Tesla founder acknowledged that his claims might sound far-fetched to some. “A lot of people have trouble believing this,” he admitted, urging skeptics to research the issue themselves. “The more you look at it, the more you’ll realize just how much of a problem this is—and how it’s an attempt to destroy democracy in America.”
Musk’s remarks offer a window into why he believes the “Democrat propaganda machine” is so intent on undermining him. For Musk, it’s not just personal—it’s a battle for the nation’s future.
