Social media influencer Dayne Kamela’s reveals how prayer can be the key to overcoming mental health struggles
In an era where anxiety, depression, and mental health struggles are at an all-time high, social media influencer and Christian leader Dayne Kamela is urging believers to turn to the power of prayer. Through his platform, Litwithprayer, Kamela reaches more than 1.4 million followers daily with messages of faith, hope, and encouragement, and his latest book, Choose Prayer, Not Despair, offers a deeply personal and biblical approach to overcoming mental health struggles.
Prayer is the Missing Key
Kamela believes that prayer is the missing key in today’s mental health crisis, particularly among young people. “My book is meant for anyone suffering from mental health challenges,” Kamela stated. “In a time when mental health poses significant challenges for believers, especially millennials and Gen Z, I hope that my story will provide much-needed guidance and support.”
Choose Prayer, Not Despair explores the direct link between mental health and a strong prayer life. Drawing from his own journey and biblical stories of individuals who overcame fear, anxiety, and despair, Kamela provides practical strategies to help readers use prayer as a tool for healing. His book covers real-world issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts, and worry, offering tangible steps to finding peace in God’s presence.
Harnessing Social Media for Good
While social media is often criticized for its negative impact, Kamela believes it can be a tool harnessed for good. “The good news is that young people are being reached through digital media, where the love of Jesus is being shared from many unique personal accounts,” he said. “God is moving and bringing His children back.”
Through Litwithprayer and his nonprofit organization, the Litwithprayer Foundation, Kamela is actively working to support those struggling with mental health issues. His foundation provides resources, counseling, and assistance to young people in need, reinforcing the message that faith and prayer can bring lasting transformation.
Choose Prayer, Not Despair is set to release on April 1, 2025.
