Watson has become a bold witness for Christ on and off the field
In light of the near-death experience of Buffalo Bills Safety, Damar Hamlin, retired NFL star Benjamin Watson made an appearance on Anderson Cooper’s show on CNN and took the opportunity to point people to Jesus Christ.
Watson is a father of 7 and an active advocate for the faith. Raised in a pastor’s home, Watson has moved on from the NFL and is now a successful author, podcaster, minister, and film producer.
Shares faith with millions over cable news
Watson, never shy about sharing his faith, when given the opportunity, spoke boldly in the Lord’s Name on CNN.
“These times bring us face to face with our own mortality. We all have a day to be born and we all have a day to die. So often between those two points, we feel invincible,” Watson shared on Cooper’s CNN show.
“Sometimes there is a reminder, all of us have an appointment with death. But I think after that it also makes us realize, where do our hearts stand? If that were to be us laying on the field, or laying at the hospital, what would our next steps be?”
Are you ready to meet your Maker?
Watson challenged listeners to make sure their hearts are in the right place and prepared to meet our Maker. Watson also recognized the opportunity this presents to share the gospel and help people process these events in light of eternity.
“On the flip side, there is a tremendous opportunity,” referring to the opportunity to dialogue about what happens after this life and where people will spend eternity. Watson says he is praying for the players and chaplains comforting those hurting.
“What happens after death? Where will you spend eternity? Thank God he provides an answer through his Son, Jesus Christ.”
