VP JD Vance praised President Trump’s swift action to protect the unborn and restore religious freedoms, reversing policies of the previous administration
Vice President JD Vance delivered a strong defense of the Trump administration’s pro-life policies and religious liberty initiatives at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast this morning, contrasting them with the previous administration’s record on abortion and faith-based protections.
Vance did not hold back in his criticism of the prior administration’s stance, saying:
“The last administration threw people in jail for praying outside pro-life clinics, harassed pro-life fathers, and protected taxpayer-funded abortion until birth.”
The vice president highlighted a dramatic policy shift under President Donald Trump, particularly within the first 30 days of his new term.
“On every single one of those issues, in 30 short days, Donald J. Trump has gone in the exact opposite direction.”
Trump’s Pro-Life Stance Praised
Vance went on to emphasize the administration’s commitment to religious liberty and protecting the unborn, asserting that these policies align with the values of Catholics and Christians across the country.
“President Trump, though not a Catholic himself, has been an incredibly good president for Catholics in the United States of America.”
Vance specifically noted Trump’s efforts to undo pro-abortion policies from the previous administration, which he claimed sought to protect taxpayer-funded abortion up until birth.
“We know that the last administration wanted to protect taxpayer-funded abortion right up until the moment of birth. On every single one of those issues, Trump has gone in the exact opposite direction, and I am thankful for that. I’m sure that every single person in this room is thankful for that as well.”
A Platform for Faith and Policy
The National Catholic Prayer Breakfast is an annual event bringing together Catholic leaders, clergy, and policymakers to discuss the intersection of faith and national policy. With religious freedom and pro-life issues at the forefront of national debates, Vance’s speech highlighted the administration’s push to protect life and uphold Christian values in governance.
