Volunteers Urgently Needed to Bring Relief and Hope to Devastated Communities
A deadly tornado tore through London and Somerset, Kentucky over the weekend, leaving at least nineteen dead and countless families grappling with the wreckage of their homes and communities. As the region reels from this tragedy, Crisis Response International (CRI) is stepping in to deliver critical aid and hope to those in need.
CRI has already dispatched an assessment team and a Mobile Kitchen Unit to coordinate relief efforts on the ground. However, the scale of the disaster demands more hands on deck. The organization is urgently calling for volunteers to join the deployment and assist in providing food, shelter, and support to affected residents.
“We’re mobilizing quickly to bring relief to London and Somerset,” said Sean Malone, CRI’s director. “This is a moment for ordinary people to become true heroes by serving those who’ve lost so much.”
How You Can Help
CRI is seeking volunteers ready to make a difference. Those interested can apply to deploy through CRI’s website at criout.com. Additionally, donations are critical to sustaining these efforts, and contributions can be made directly at the same site.
For those with ties to the Somerset and London areas, CRI is looking for local connections to strengthen their response. Churches, pastors, or community members who can provide insight or support are encouraged to reach out via email at [email protected]. Local knowledge is invaluable in ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.
A Call to Prayer
In addition to physical aid, CRI is committed to bringing the gospel to those impacted and prayer. Malone shared a heartfelt prayer for the mission: “Father, in the name of Jesus, we dedicate our response to You, the true ‘First Responder.’ We lift up the suffering communities of London and Somerset, struck by this deadly tornado. Clear a path for every responder, guiding them with Your peace and wisdom. Holy Spirit, be our strength and guide.”
As Kentucky begins the long road to recovery, CRI’s efforts underscore the power of collective action in times of crisis. Whether through volunteering, donating, or praying, every contribution brings hope to those facing unimaginable loss.
