The revenge of God: leading persecutors to Jesus

By THRiVE! News 2 Min Read

Pastor, church planter, and evangelist Robby Dawkins isn’t afraid to take the gospel to where it’s needed most. Planting a church in one of the most crime-ridden and gang-infested areas of Illinois was no small feat. Now he’s planting works of ministry around the world in Pakistan, Armenia, and Iraq. His boldness to witness the gospel and bring change to the community through Christ got the attention of the community and brought transformation to the city. So much so that the mayor and chief of police acknowledged their work in the city.

Yet, despite the accolades, it was Robby’s son who may have made the biggest impact. Attending public school and taking a bold stance for Christ, brought about some of the darkest persecution of the young man’s life. Yet, his persistence in sharing the gospel and his response to seek “revenge” with the love of God. The results – astounding.

After being left for dead in the middle of the street, Robby’s son wouldn’t let up. He went back to the same people who hurt him, loved them even more, and shared the gospel. Today one of the leading gang members is his son’s best friend and stood up as the best man at his wedding just a couple of years after high school. God truly does work all things together for good.
