Still work to be done after Roe v Wade victory

Erin Hawley, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom made an appearance on Kirk Cameron’s Takeaways show, and said that although Roe vs. Wade has been overturned, there is a lot of work to be done still.

“It’s a huge generational win to say Roe vs Wade has been overturned,” said Hawley. “It means states have the power to protect life.”

In terms of the amount of work to be done now that the Supreme Court has overruled the case, Hawley says there’s much work to be done.

‘The work is just beginning’

“I think actually the work is just beginning. Until Roe vs Wade was overruled states, communities, and churches were really handcuffed from protecting life and from helping women, and encouraging families to flourish. Now states are allowed and empowered to protect those lives, both mothers and children.”

Cameron says it’s imperative to recognize the personhood of babies in the womb.

Hawley agrees. Under the 14th amendment, we can recognize and protect the lives of innocent babies while in the womb.

“States have the power to protect life. It’s a huge win, but the work is just beginning.”

Cameron and Hawley both referenced how the advances in science have contributed to a culture of life. Sonograms in 1973 showed hardly anything in the womb. Today, Sonograms help prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that life begins in the womb with 3D imaging of life.

Promoting a culture of life

“We need to promote a culture of life,” continued Hawley. “We need to have pregnancy care centers in every community.”

Hawley says the next battleground is local communities and states where state courts will try to enshrine abortion into law. Hawley encouraged grassroots mobilization efforts and action to encourage voters and lawmakers to honor and uphold the dignity of all life.

“Focus on local communities and states. We need to convince voters and the courts to protect life.”

Cameron concluded with the fact that the tide is shifting, and public opinion is shifting. The proof is in the fact as seen in sonograms, as revealed by a beating heart. Science is testifying to it.

“The tide is shifting and moving in the right direction.”
