Arnold explores “spiritual stuff”

Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for many things, including his prolific movie career, political success, marriage to a Kennedy, son-in-law Chris Pratt, and more. Recently he sat down with Interview Magazine and was asked what happens when someone dies. Schwarzenegger, by his answer, is not a Christian, but he appears to be searching. His son-in-law Chris Pratt and his wife, Schwarzenegger’s daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, are believers attending church in Los Angeles. From the interview, Arnold seems to be still on the fence and trying to figure out what eternity is and isn’t.

“We don’t know what happens with the soul and all this spiritual stuff that I’m not an expert in, but I know that the body as we see each other now, we will never see each other again like that,” Arnold shared in the interview.

Arnold’s right; the body does die, and we’ll never see each other in that form again. As a matter of fact, according to 1 Corinthians, we’ll be raised with a new eternal body. Those who belong to Jesus Christ, they will live forever in abundant, eternal life.

Frustration expressed

As the interview progressed, Schwarzenegger expressed his frustration with death and anger at losing those closest to him. He did deny the core Christian belief of an eternal home and fellowship with those we love in eternity.

‘Except in some fantasy. When people talk about, “I will see them again in heaven,” it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part. I know people feel comfortable with death, but I don’t.”

Who’s to blame for death?

Arnold continued the conversation, trying to find out who to blame for this whole death thing that he is not comfortable with. “I tell you, there’s someone that mixed up this whole thing. Think about it. Who can we blame?”

He need not look further than Genesis 2 for this answer – Adam and Eve fell into sin resulting in death. Then fast-forward to Matthew 27 to realize Christ defeated death, conquering sin on the cross and rising on the 3rd day, victorious as King forever.
