Trump Flips 10 California Counties Red, But Newsom Remains Fixed on Poor Policies

Governor Gavin Newsom of California seems out of touch with voter base as a growing number of counties turn red, reflecting a shift in political alignment across the state.

Newsom Appears Tone-Deaf to the Will of the American People, Visits Washington in Futile Attempt to Save Reckless Progressive Vision

In a remarkable shift, ten California counties turned red this election, showing the growing influence of Republican support across the Golden State. Counties like Butte, Nevada, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Inyo, Fresno, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange saw a surge in votes for former President Donald Trump, marking a significant political realignment. With 40% of Californians now voting red, this development raises pressing questions about the state’s representation on the national stage.

However, despite these shifts, California Governor Gavin Newsom, in a desperate attempt to hold on to his progressive policies visited Washington last week to continue his push for a progressive agenda and in vain try to “Trump-Proof” California, subverting the will of the people after Trump won the election by a landslide.

Newsom’s Wishlist?

Newsom is trying to champion his “wishlist” of issues, including aggressive climate action, expanded healthcare access, and broad immigration reform — policies that continue to push California into debt, high taxes, and an unaffordable cost of living.

This growing political divide highlights two distinct California voices, with a significant conservative population increasingly feeling undermined and ignored. Trump’s gains show a strong conservative presence that runs counter to the image of an overwhelmingly progressive California. These areas, largely inland and rural, often express concerns about issues like tax policies, crime rates, and restrictive climate regulations that they say don’t take their needs into account.

In Washington, Newsom’s visits have prompted speculation about his future political ambitions. But his continual missteps and lack of integrity will likely cause voters with a conscience to pass on Newsom. Californians feel his priorities are leaving behind conservative communities whose voices are growing louder, yet Newsom doesn’ appear to be listening.

Trump’s Influence Is Growing in California

Trump’s influence in the Golden State demonstrates that a significant portion of California is ready for change, even if their governor’s attention remains focused on policies that align with his own vision for the state.

President-Elect Donald Trump called out California Governor Gavin Newsom on Truth Social, exposing Newsom’s policies that Trump says and in fact are driving residents out of the state and harming California’s future. Referring to Newsom as “Governor Gavin Newscum,” Trump criticized the governor for using terms like “Trump-Proof” to rally support against conservative policies that, Trump argues, would help “Make California Great Again.”

In his post, Trump pointed out that, for the first time in California’s history, more people are leaving the state than moving in. He attributes this population shift to what he calls Newsom’s “INSANE POLICY DECISIONS,” arguing that these policies are putting California on a destructive path. One issue Trump highlighted was the state’s water management, claiming that millions of gallons of water are being rerouted from Northern California directly into the Pacific Ocean rather than being used for California’s cities, towns, and farms. Trump labeled this as a prime example of wasteful policy that could otherwise benefit residents.

Newsom’s Policies Have Costs Inflating

“The cost of EVERYTHING, in particular ‘groceries,’ IS OUT OF CONTROL,” Trump stated, further pointing to California’s housing crisis, the high cost of living, and what he described as an “unchecked and unbalanced homeless catastrophe.”

Trump also used the opportunity to announce a new common sense policy agenda item: a nationwide push for stronger voting regulations. As an “AGENT” for the United States on Voting and Elections, Trump declared he would demand that states implement voter ID laws and require proof of citizenship as part of the voting process. The former president rightly argued that these steps are essential to safeguard the integrity of elections as anyone with common sense would agree.

Newsom has yet to respond to Trump’s post directly, but he appears tone-deaf to the will of the people and continues pushing his destructive policies, high taxes, government overreach, and more government overspending on Californians. Meanwhile, Trump’s message continues to resonate with Americans who are tired of the insanity. 40% of Californians who recently voted Republican, many of whom share frustrations over rising living costs, restrictive policies, and a sense that state leadership is increasingly out of touch.

With the political divide widening, Trump’s remarks reflect a growing conservative push to reshape California policies — something that is long overdue.
