Authorities Investigate the Alarming Wave of Politically Motivated Intimidation including Bomb Threats & “Swatting” Incidents

In a chilling escalation, several of former President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were subjected to violent threats last night and this morning, according to Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

“These were un-American threats to their lives and those who live with them,” Leavitt stated, shedding light on the disturbing incidents.

Bomb Threats & Swatting Tactics

The attacks reportedly included bomb threats and “swatting,” a dangerous tactic where attackers manipulate emergency services to respond under false pretenses, often with potentially lethal consequences. Swatting has gained notoriety in recent years as a harassment tool, putting lives at risk and wasting critical law enforcement resources.

Among those targeted were prominent figures from Trump’s incoming administration. New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Trump’s pick for ambassador to the United Nations, was one of the victims. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, whom Trump had initially chosen to serve as attorney general, was also targeted, along with Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, tapped to lead the Department of Labor, and former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin, slated to head the Environmental Protection Agency.

Further Investigation Happening

Law enforcement officials are now investigating whether other members of Trump’s team were also victims. This includes Susie Wiles, Trump’s incoming chief of staff, and Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general who is expected to replace Gaetz as Trump’s pick for attorney general. Investigators are working to determine how each individual was targeted, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation.

The rise in swatting incidents has raised alarms. This malicious act not only endangers the direct target but also imperils law enforcement officers and innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Such intimidation tactics are a stark reminder of the fallenness of man and the challenges facing political appointees and their families as they step into public roles. Violence and threats against any public servant undermines the principles of a democratic society.

Authorities are expected to investigate these threats thoroughly.
