Surf champion gives glory to God after winning US Open of surfing

In the biggest surf event of the year held in Huntington Beach, CA, surfing champion Eli Hanneman gave glory to God for his championship win and for the peace and clarity he had out on the water. “It’s crazy to see the plans God had for me and I didn’t even know it,” the surf champion wrote in an Instagram post. “I had an overwhelming sense of peace and clarity today that could’ve only be supernatural.”

 

Hanneman attends Greg Laurie‘s church in West Maui. Laurie also celebrated the win with his congregation member stating, “Congratulation to @WSL 2023 US Open of Surfing champion @elihanneman.” Laurie was thankful Hannerman gave the glory to God and congratulated him for the big win. “He gave God glory for his win and for giving him peace throughout the contest.” 

Hanneman shared that this win was the best day of his life.

“I am speechless. If you know me well enough, you know how hard I work and how unassumingly competitive I am. I feel like my who life had led up to this point and I can’t even describe what I am feeling.”
