Kate Middleton breaks silence, shares health update

In a heartfelt video message, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and understanding she has received during her recent health challenges. She took the opportunity to personally thank everyone who has sent messages of support and stood by her side during this difficult time.

The Duchess revealed that she has been undergoing recovery from surgery, which has been a tough journey for her and her family. However, she expressed her appreciation for the exceptional care provided by her medical team, acknowledging their crucial role in her recovery process.

In January, Kate underwent major abdominal surgery in London, initially believing her condition to be non-cancerous. While the surgery was successful, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a precautionary measure, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has recently begun.

Cancer was present in Middleton’s body

“And at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” explained Middleton in a video post on X. “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation on cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy. And I’m now in the early stages of that treatment,” she continued.

This unexpected development came as a shock to Kate and her husband, Prince William, who have been navigating this challenging time while prioritizing their young family’s well-being and privacy. They have taken the necessary time to explain the situation to their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, ensuring they understand and feel reassured about their mother’s health.

Kate emphasized her commitment to focusing on her recovery, both physically and emotionally, by engaging in activities that promote healing and strength. She expressed gratitude for William’s unwavering support and the outpouring of love and kindness from well-wishers, which has been a source of comfort during this period.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance to as is the love support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you,” shared the Duchess. “It means so much trust both. We hope that you will understand that as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I move on. But for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Acknowledging her deep joy in her work, Kate shared her anticipation of returning to her duties once she completes her treatment. However, she emphasized the importance of prioritizing her health and making a full recovery before resuming her official responsibilities.

As she undergoes treatment, Kate extended her thoughts to all those affected by cancer, offering words of encouragement and solidarity. She urged individuals facing this disease to maintain faith and hope, reassuring them that they are not alone in their journey.

“At this time, I’m also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease in whatever form please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
