PRIDE flag controversy on the set of The Chosen

The wildly popular Christian TV series, The Chosen, is in the middle of a heated online debate after a PRIDE flag on the set of the TV series. On the one hand, you have actors performing in the series defending that a PRIDE flag was seen on the set while others call for a boycott of the Christian TV series.

“We’ve made no secret our cast and crew come from all different beliefs and backgrounds,” said Dallas Jenkins, the show’s creator, and director, in a statement to Religion News Service. “I don’t believe personal workspaces on set are relevant to the content of ‘The Chosen’, but if someone wants to stop watching a free show because of it, it’s their right.”

The crowdfunded series is in the production of its fourth season and has already reached a milestone of 500 million views. While the show is made to glorify Christ and is funded and produced by Christians, the show’s 100+ employees come from all different backgrounds.  Jenkins said at the time, “Over half of our cast and crew are agnostic or not of a particular faith background. And we’re hearing every day from thousands of people who are agnostic, atheist, or coming at it from another perspective who are just watching it as a normal show.”
