Jack Hayford passes into glory at 88

Church of the Way founder laid to rest in Los Angeles, California


Pastor Jack Hayford, founder of The King’s University and Seminary (TKU) and founding pastor of Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California passed away on Sunday, January 8, in his home in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. Hayford was 88. His family said he died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of the morning, having eaten dinner with his wife, Valarie, and having spoken to one of his grandkids the evening before.

In addition to founding TKU in 1997 and Church On The Way, Hayford served as President of The Foursquare Church from 2004 to 2009. Hayford authored over 50 books and wrote more than 500 songs, including “Majesty.”

Mourning the loss, celebrating the homecoming


Jack Hayford Ministries released the following statement concerning the loss of Hayford. “Today, we mourn his loss but celebrate the homecoming of a great leader in God’s kingdom. We know that this great servant and worshipper is now experiencing the greatest worship service of all.”

Hayford’s accomplishments are significant. In 2014 he was inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He has also won the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award for his part in the album God With Us. He was also awarded the Salvation Army’s William Booth Award, as well as serving as Worship Leader in the Hosanna! Music album Men In Worship.
